Consultancy Guidelines



1. Introduction

WARSA provides expert consultancy services in ethnobotany, medicinal plant identification, traditional ecological knowledge, and sustainable botanical practices. These services are delivered through a statewide network of experienced consultants affiliated with academic and research institutions.

2. Objective of Consultancy Services

WARSA’s consultancy objectives include:

  • Promoting medicinal plant cultivation and conservation-based livelihoods.
  • Supporting academic institutions and herbal industries with plant identification and herbarium development.
  • Encouraging biodiversity-friendly and culturally sensitive research and documentation.

3. Scope of Consultancy Activities

Activity 1: Medicinal Plant Identification and Cultivation

  • • Survey and identification of region-specific medicinal flora.
  • • Guidance in Garden / nursery development and propagation methods.
  • Consultancy Fee: 5,000 + TA (Travel Allowance)

Activity 2: Wild Edibles & NTFP (Non-Timber Forest Produce)

  • Nutritional documentation of edible forest species.
  • Training on harvesting, recipe development, and value addition.
  • Consultancy Fee: 5,000 + TA

Activity 3: Plant Identification Services

  • Plant identification through field samples and/or herbarium sheets.
  • Scientific validation using floras, herbarium, and digital references.
  • Requirement: Submission of 3 herbarium sheets per plant.
  • Consultancy Fee: 1,000 per plant identified.

4. Consultancy Engagement Policy

Eligibility

  • Applicable to Faculty members, Students, academic institutions, government departments, NGOs, SHGs, herbal enterprises, and biodiversity research agencies.

Engagement Process

  • A formal request must be submitted with a description of the required service.
  • WARSA will evaluate the request and provide a quotation and scope of work.
  • Upon agreement, services will be initiated by the assigned consultant.

5. Ethical Standards and Compliance

  • All activities must ensure environmental sustainability and comply with biodiversity conservation norms.
  • No collection of endangered plant species without legal permissions.
  • Prior informed consent must be obtained before documenting traditional knowledge.

6. Deliverables

WARSA consultancy may include:

  • Field reports and identification records
  • Cultivation protocols and conservation advice
  • Certificate for plant identification
  • Certificates for training or field sessions (if applicable)
